For some managers, it may be necessary to put security protocols in place regarding its team members. And your resource planner has a section devoted to this: User Security. Ganttic’s own security protocols are constantly improving. So for now, this section allows Admins and Owners to request that the team update their passwords or gives them a way to manually reset their Users’ passwords. See how!
Must Know
- Only Owners and Admins may access User Security and other User Settings.
- This section can be used to request a password reset from other Admins, Users, and Owners.
- If a password reset is requested, the old password will immediately expire. An email will be sent to their account’s email address to make the update.
- Admins and Owners can also use this section to manually change a User’s password by manually entering a new one.
- If the password is reset then the User will not receive any emails.
- Additional login security options (login without password, 2FA, SSO etc) will be added to this section in the future.
Resetting a User's Password Manually

Open the Users section. You can find it on the left Sidebar near the bottom.
- Select a User by clicking on the name. This will open the User Settings section.

Click on Security. This will open that section.

Type in a new password and click Reset password. No emails are sent. If needed, the new password should be shared directly.
NB! The manual Reset password option works top-down based on roles. F.e. Owners can reset the password manually for Admins and Users. Admins can do this for Users only.
Requesting a Password Reset

Open the Users section. You can find it on the left sidebar near the bottom.
- Select a User by clicking on the name. This will open the User Settings section.
- Click on Security. This will open that section.

Click Send Password Reset request. A prompt will appear warning that the old password will be removed. Click OK to continue.
NB! The Send Password Reset request option works top-down based on roles. F.e. Owners can send the password reset request for Admins and Users. Admins can do this for Users only. - An email will be sent to the email address linked to their Ganttic account. From there, they can update their password.
User Security in Action
This security feature is convenient in a number of ways:
Prevents ex-employees from accessing plans
Use the password reset to gain access to a Ganttic login if an employee has left the company. This prevents that person from accessing Ganttic and its planning data in the future. Removing the User altogether is an option too.
Request new passwords for your team
If your organization requires mandatory password updates every few months, this is an ideal way to ensure that your employees follow protocol. Have the HR person request an update of the account passwords whenever it’s necessary.
